Mars Impactor’s Stratospheric Experimental Test Bed

by Steve Hobbs 19 Jan 2020

The transmission payload for MARS MEDIAN testing is almost built – courtesy of custom Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) arriving this week. This board will sample inertia, temperature, pressure, humidity and UV radiation and thermal and send via Lora [Ed radio] for High Altitude Balloon flight. Lora uses the same pins as SD card so I need to build a second payload which records sensor information to SD card. I’m just waiting for the PCBs to turn up.

Editor: Steve is working on a way to take up different sensor payloads to near space to qualify and test the systems all at once with a real planet below. R&D is an essential part of our ongoing program. The systems will evolve, but that is science and experience.
